About YiLin

Yi Lin started her career as a lawyer before she realised that she didn’t like arguing. She ventured briefly into the travel industry where she left a lasting impression on a fellow traveler – by unintentionally shooting food into his eye. 5 years later, her husband still claims that it was love that blinded him, not barbequed crab.

She eventually found fulfillment in a job that kept her occupied with happenings in the city and let her tell the world all about her beloved tropical sunny island. The storytelling took a twist in 2009 when she took time off work to explore the Americas and indulge in her travel-writer dreams through blogging about life on the road with the home audience instead.

Outside her life in the public service, Yi Lin lurks around the travel section in bookstores and enthusiastically sticks pins into her world map to remind her of places waiting to be explored. Her husband is very worried about the increasing number of map pins – but is glad that she has found something else to stick them in other than him.

Yi Lin recently celebrated her big 3-0 and is looking forward to life in the thirties.

In February 2010, the couple returned from their year-long travel bliss to life in Singapore with their pet fish, plastic ferns and a four-poster bed. They mulled over whether there is any space to catalogue books on parenting between Batman and X-Men in Dannie’s wall-to-wall comic collection.

In December 2010, Yi Lin and Dannie celebrated the happy news that they were going to be parents to a baby conceived through IVF.

The couple is glad to announce that with the arrival of Colette “Coco” Cho on 22 August 2011, they have finally attained Parenthood status.
